Are you referring to Apple's Alu keyboard? I'm using Matias TactilePro Mac keyabord at work, on a typical Windows PC. No issues here - Command becomes Win and all is well.

I'd take the risk of pointing out that the state of the art OOP is still to be found in Smalltalk.

The Running Man, soon in reality near you! On a serious note - take every tech demo with a trunkfull of salt. The infamous Unreal3 demo, from years ago, hasn't really delivered on the promise some 6 years later. Tech demo != game.

Well, I do get very close to 8 hours on my 17" MBP (when the cpu is not too stressed). That number will go down if any serious work is done, but light browsing etc. takes it all the way up to 8h.

Woah, so it's £40 for 24Mbit line? That sounds like a rip off to me (even for UK, where I pay a lot less than that for a stable 50MBit fibre internet. And the state of the infrastructure in the UK is quite poor).

IE8 here at work. There's no Flash from what I can see. Am I missing something? Or are you referring to IE6/7?

From personal experience, talent is to be found outside of London. But it's difficult to get them to move to London, they just don't think it's worth a hassle. There is a reason why so many successfull UK hardware companies are based in Ha

SSD is the best upgrade we can do these days? Kids don't know what it feels to upgrade from a C-64 with a "datasette" to an early Atari 520ST with 3.5" floppies. THAT was an upgrade, everything else pales in comparison.

This trick has been around for a very long time. I remember Tempus Editor on Atari ST (remember those?) using 8 bits of address registers for additional storage (as only 24 bits out of 32 were used for addressing).

Try scrolling large amounts of text in MacVim, where the whole screen is refreshed, and then try the same in xterm+vim. MacVim is painfull to watch doing this, feel like working over a 300 baud modem. xterm/X11+vim are VERY fast combination

Be it as it may, but xterm/X11 still kills Terminal.app in text rendering speed. Also, MacVim is, on my Mac at least, visibly slower in text rendering than the naked vim under xterm.
