I don't doubt that you've found a lot of people in your area who are interested in it. But it doesn't even imply that it's more popular than Angular in SE MI, much less anywhere else. You can't offer up another an

Your votes going into a permanent public ledger seems like a bad idea, and the decentralized part seems not useful. Building this on the block chain seems like a solution in search of a problem. But surely they've given it some thoug

Yeah, you're right not to trust statements about projects "capturing mind share" and what is "really hot right now" (not intending to quote OP). People get into their little communities and don't realize that

I had assumed that a trip to Hawaii would transit the Panama Canal, but you may be right about the route. WP says the canal opened in August 1914, so it might not be included here. I wonder how different a map made just a few years later

It's interesting that you could get all the way to Hawaii quicker than you could get to the west coast of South America. There doesn't seem to be a technical impediment here, I guess there just weren't scheduled ship routes

There's still plenty of room for enough entropy to power most use cases. Even two people trying to take identical pictures should have enormous differences when analyzed at the pixel level.

In your hypothetical case the vertices would be labeled by friends' names or ids. So you only have to check whether the obvious isomorphism applies i.e. that the graphs are equivalent as sets.

Right, some kinds of UUIDs achieve their uniqueness precisely by leveraging predictability. The unpredictable kind are mostly just random bits formatted in a particular (not very efficient) way.

MetaFilter charges a membership fee, though they rely on ad revenue to keep it running. And it has to be pointed out that it was pretty close to shutting down last year (ad revenue was way down).
