Weather is really important. For all the traffic it has, the freeways in LA are generally not that bad. 300 days of sunshine and no freezing temps helps a lot.

The plot point in question was that they were encoding the phone number when leaving it as a callback number. Pulse dialing wouldn't have come into it.

Amen. I was just thinking the other day about how I used to really like C++ but how glad I was to not have to use it anymore. I haven't worried about "the most vexing parse" for years! There was this last week, and yes it&

It's true that the franchise model is in practice an impediment to unionization. But this argument represents a huge shifting of the goalposts from your original incorrect claim that they are contractors and not employees.

This is wildly inaccurate. It seems like you've taken the arguments against e.g. Uber assumed that they apply to McDonald's. The employees not being McDonald's employees is a consequence of the franchise model, not some nef

"States rights" is definitely a Republican slogan, but in truth it's applied very selectively. Witness attempts at the federal level to ban abortion and gay marriage.

Ugh, yes. To be fair, running a meeting well is an acquired skill. It's just that it's never taught and nobody realizes that they run shitty, inefficient meetings.

This is like pulling teeth. If you don't want to defend the proposal you probably shouldn't have brought it up in the first place.

This seems ridiculous, but I'll bite. What is the societal benefit to allowing management to discriminate in their handling of white-collar workers?

That's the same thing that struck me. I think you end up in that position when you don't want to hire community administrators, you'd rather deputize your users. But until you build them the tools they need to do their jobs

People have come to associate things like the kick of shifting gears or the sound of the engine revving very closely with acceleration. So much so that if they are missing, they infer that the car is less powerful. Accelerating with a CVT

It is a little interesting that it takes so few changes to the source to rewrite the recursive call as a loop. But really the only advantage it has over C (syntactically, anyway) is that it doesn't require a return at the end. By whi
