From the perspective of a hypothetical corrupt, authoritarian government, it's an issue of control. Of course they have their own websites. But the goal would be to promote the "official" point of view while suppressing the o

If I was the leader of a country, why would I let Silicon Valley companies potentially censor my speech? Other authoritarian leaders are likely thinking "If Twitter can deplatform the President of the United States [which has more powe

This is true. I've previously been downvoted for pointing out that Parler does moderate, but they're a small company so it's a slow process. Parler is not the "anything goes" website that people like to conflate wit

I've seen Parler moderate content, perhaps not very quickly due to it being a small company. It's Gab that has no moderation (with all the pros and cons of a pure "free speech" network).

Absolutely. The only reason Parler is getting banned and Facebook isn't is because Facebook is too big to fail. Facebook and Twitter have the same amount of questionable content, just better PR and bigger clout.

To be fair, Parler views itself as a town square, certainly more free speech than Twitter, but less free than Gab and 8Kun. Having minimal standards on free expression is probably a good thing, lest they get kicked off all the app stores. W

It's yearly, not monthly. But I'm also confused about the pricing model. What is the benefit of buying the $9.99 subscription if the $29.99 purchase covers everything (or does it?), and you keep the app for more than 3 years?
