Yes I would say its really important. If a person has the potential to earn money from a card submission they also have the incentive to start gaming the system (groups of people even) by rating their card highly even though it may not be

why not grab the feed from each of those links and create a collabpsable div that opens with the recent headlines and links from each site. that would go a long way towards making your site useful, sort of like a hacker's version of popurls

I find it amusing how much Zuckerberg's apparent attitude has changed. Like not wanting to add resumes because they'd make the site less fun. I guess the idea of fun changes when you've got a 15 billion valuation to live up to.
