ClearOS is a good choice if you're looking for something like that - all users are stored in a central LDAP database which everything else authenticates against, and it has a nice webui.

I agree, it's a neat looking library. Q.md5 - to one-way-encode passwords etc. in insecure websites before sending to the server However, I'm not sure promoting unsalted MD5 as a password hashing algorithm and a replacement

An issue I see here is the relatively rapid trend changes within e-sports compared to more traditional sports. What happens when League of Legends 2 is released (or everyone drops it and moves to DOTA 2)? Or Starcraft 3? Would it not be mor

To put this in perspective, a fairly typical 1.6kg hexrotor with NO payload will pull around 200W of electrical power in hover[1]. These guys are lifting 130kg with ~750W... [1]: 6.6Ahr battery @ ~14.4V, 95Whr of power. It'll go throug

What happens if multiple bots are active in the same room? Reminds me of the classic Monkey Dust sketch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APG0rNedEwk

A 2.4GHz or GPS jammer would be a safer solution. Most of the police multirotors are standard consumer models without milspec GPS or communications.

Sorry, I'm not from the US and with a cursory google for gun shops found that a Glock pistol of some description (a brand I recognise) is ~$500. If you have access to basic tools (as in, hacksaw and glue), you can build your own fixed-

This information is incredibly hard to get from most multirotor makers, because it's always really bad and they don't like to be compared to each other. From the battery size & numbers for this general class of quad I'd g

A cruise-missile is a UAV that crashes deliberately. From a security standpoint, these things are a nightmare. Mostly radio-transparent, cheaper than a handgun, pretty much untraceable if you build them yourself.

We've got a lab full of them, and if you've got $600 dollars, you can have one tomorrow. http://www.udrones.com/product_p/acrtf2.htm The amateur UAV community is awesome for hackers. See: ArduPilot: http:&#x

Drones like this one aren't reliant on phone networks at all. They tend to use the 2.4GHz band for the pilot control link, and sometimes also for telemetry back to the pilot. The video links are analogue transmitters on 900MHz, 1.2, 2

It's a DJI Phantom. They are a consumer-ready quadrotor - almost anyone can fly one. http://www.dji-innovations.com/product/phantom/

It's a Parrot ArDrone quadrotor. The frame is made of foam which encloses the rotors and the motors automatically cut off if they sense the blades are obstructed. Being hit by one is like being bumped with a bit of polystyrene.

I'm a big fan of the open source pyroom[1]. Development has stalled but it's feature complete for me so I don't mind. FocusWriter also looks good, xplatform & open source [2]. 1: http://pyroom.org 2: http://gottcode.org/focuswriter

I agree it is an area that could do with research. However, we know consumer level GPSs have no protection against spoofing (indeed, you can buy GPS jammers from various websites for defeating fleet tracking systems). You could as well use

Indeed, this is really bad reporting (IAA UAV researcher). They were using a small rotary wing (relatively cheap) research UAV, despite the various articles including pictures of Global Hawks/MQ-9s etc. These small systems are usually desi
