Tarnovsky has given several really great talks at Defcon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh238PUqz3I He goes into a lot of technical detail which is great. I'm a big fan of his work.

I submitted this 11 hours ago and it got zero votes during the first several hours. I thought it was lost to the depths of HN, how did people find it so many hours later?

Well, I want to be really good at electrical and computer engineering, so I wanted to work on problems relevant to that. If I stayed at Soylent, I'd have devoted all of my time to becoming really knowledgeable about nutrition, a field

He actually mentions that solder is not a good mechanical connection and said he used solderwick to reinforce the patch joints.

Interesting. I guess maybe you could repair a multilayer board that had a hole in it by milling down the edges of the hole in kind of a stair-step pattern to expose each inner layer and then attach your patch. That would be quite a job.

Wow, this is fantastic. This can only be done on 2 sided PCBs, since you couldn't connect the inner layers of the PCB patch back to the original PCB. But it reminds me of Kintsugi[0]. Perhaps if he used a solder that had gold mixed in

There's lots of tutorials out there for this kind of thing, and looking at other people's project logs (like this submission) is good. I like to use OSHPark to get my PCBs made, but some people also like ITead Studio. Personally,

I've seen that same oscillation problem at the end of Flight 2 with some of my vehicles in Kerbal Space Program before. It's funny to see that on a real vehicle.
