It is bad design, but your idea of something does not make anything non-conforming a bug.

I just posted one way how to do it correctly. And research (aka: consulting the manpage) is an essential part of engineering. Doing that would also solve the problem.

Behind this is the utterly asinine social idea that miscarriages are something rare.

The interpolation is not the security problem, the problem is the user not quoting their data. It's similar to curl CWE-93[1], where it was documented and in-use behavior and consequently was rejected as a security problem. Example for

This stubborn attitude to refuse to consult the documentation at all and then expect the tool to work according to your preconceptions. Tools do have rough edges, if you don't want to learn about them, you will get bitten.

The docs say that exec.Command works with execv directly, so there should be no issue? You dont seem to call out to /bin/sh at all.

> hidden argv join It is not hidden. It is written down in plain sight: A complete command line may be specified as command, or it may have additional arguments. If supplied, the arguments will be appended to the command, separated b

Its not the manual pages that are ambiguous on this, its the author who used the word "command" but seemingly had a mental model of it as if it was an argument vector. A command and an argument vector are different things....

It seems a reasonable response for someone who is reading the term for the first time ever. I also didnt knew the word despite having seen the iq graph meme.

I guess that encrypting a hash with ECDSA (= to generate a signature) does not count as encryption?

Recompiling the Kernel like its 2005 to get driver support... this article gives some retro-computing vibes.

Valid concern... but my conclusion from that is that the Fediverse is just a bunch of personal lawns you'd better stay away from.

Uh. That would actually solve the problem, but at the cost of having to operate that setup. I saw many people who self-hosted their instance but it seemed rather stressful dealing with some technical aspects, so initially didn't consid

You were projecting hard in your last two comments - i generally do not think by constructed group identity. And i'm lost what parts of my wishes you consider authoritarian. I'm just pissed that instance admins install blocks that

Yes, but the different instance has a different set of blocks (both outgoing and ingoing), so the problem kinda persists even when you change instances. You can't have both A and B people in your feed when they (actually their admins)

My problem is that the instance admin does the blocking decision for the user, based on their own cultural norms, not the users.

The trick is not being an ass towards someone you disagree with. If you quote Popper on this, you failed that and are rationalizing your behavior because you know its not good.

I was unable to settle on the Fediverse as i did not find an instance from where i could follow and interact with all the people that i know. My social circles are rather "diverse" and people like you are apparently working hard t

There is the popular belief that shunning people or groups of people like this will lead to their exclusion from society, not yours.

Well, that sucks, because whenever you argue for being more "inclusive", you are now one of the annoying people. Regardless of the actual merit of your point. Its a pretty shitty time to be disabled.
