Oh that's interesting too. So if I said "it's time for lunch", would that be kairos or chronos?

Fascinating, I love checking HN on Sundays for these more obscure topics that pop up. Was it primarily used only in formal language? Or if it was used as everyday language, is there any evidence that it affected the way they saw time, in a

That link seems to cover only whether it's possible for you to park in a given spot, whereas the OP's link covers when and how far to turn, bumping against cars parked opposite, etc. You'd need a lot more variables for that!

You can’t, if they’re simple unauthenticated HTTP links then you can’t stop that link being copied and pasted. I guess you could look for Facebook’s spiders retrieving content and block those requests. But why bother?

I doubt Facebook engineers are free-typing commands on Bash, so it’s probably not an individual error. More likely to be a race condition or other edge case that wasn’t considered during a review. This might be a script that’s run 1000s of

On the contrary, it's said far too much. Facebook is extremely valuable for a lot of people. I dislike Facebook as much as most people on here, but saying "it's totally pointless" is silly and it's not surprising th

Exactly there’s a “guilty by association” fallacy here. 1. You want the government to control production of some resources. 2. Stalin controlled production of some resources 3. Stalin killed millions of people 4. Therefore, you want to kill

A competent dev experienced in event sourcing can build a system that leverages this without taking on so much cost. But… they’re expensive and hard to find. So most experiences of event sourcing look exactly like you describe.

The answer is in your question. Because event sourcing is a niche skill, devs see it like playing on a higher level of a computer game. But where it’s really needed, nobody would choose a novice. So novices learn to do event sourcing on sys
