Why would Apple be liable for these things? There are existing phones in every market that allow such things without any liability issues.

The standards issue is only relevant to E2EE. It has no bearing on the usability issues here. The E2EE issues should be fixed soon according to Apple. I'd bet a good amount of money the usability issues will remain. It used to be black

RCS on iPhone just sucks though. All I have is anecdotal evidence, but it feels like I only get late or out-of-order delivery from iPhones. Plus iMessage doesn't allow you to send RCS messages from your laptop, whereas it's easy t

The "closed" approach is way better when it involves guardrails rather than handcuffs. Pixels offer guardrails; they're just as secure as iPhones but offer a lot more freedom to power users. Android is a lot more than just Pi

That's called the lump of labor fallacy. Losing your job sucks. It could suck a lot less with stuff like UBI that distributes the right amount of the profits from increasingly concentrated automation. Maybe you think that's imposs

I'm not sure about having them "pretty soon", but what do you think AI, self driving cars and androids are for if not to alleviate people of work? Better health care is a tough one, I'll give you that.

That's fair. I just think saying "credit reporting should be illegal" is throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Without credit scores, it would be impossible to get loans or a mortgage. I think a lot of people would be pretty bummed about that.

Google pays to be the default. AFAIK they don't pay to make the switching experience maliciously difficult. After all, the switching experience on Android is dead simple. That seems to be another unilateral decision by Apple to keep yo

If Google controls the spin-off, then the problem is not resolved. The whole point is that the government doesn't want Google to control it. And if Google does not control it, then who does? The judge? There are a lot of seemingly simp

It's not all about TSMC. The CCP has been very vocal about wanting to conquer Taiwan since long before TSMC even existed. Also, the longer they wait, the more tech gets transferred to the US, so even if it were all about TSMC, they wou
