Apple did drop the ball on it... they said they are no longer going to do any development work on it. It's just as well, if you want a good browser on Windows you should be using Chrome or Firefox anyway.

If you were on a MAC you would only have to make sure the mouse cursor is over the area you wanted to scroll. :P

nVidia doesn't say the Steam Linux Beta starts today, they just say that they have tested their new drivers with the beta. They have probably tested them with an internal Valve steam beta that nobody else has access to yet.

Even if you are on svn, you can still use git. The svn bridge works quite nicely.

While I enjoy the novels, I think the story embedded in the game speaks for itself. Check out the massive story page on the halo.bungie.org website, there are pages and pages and pages of speculations from avid fans about this or that in th

Is it just me, or has there been a more-than-normal amount of mud-slinging in politics this year?

What I want to know is why does is this patent referenced by a Microsoft patent that is completely unrelated? http://www.google.co.uk/patents/US8181265 Does Microsoft think the patent system is a joke?

It seems to me that a lot of people on HN are assuming that this design is an intentional rip-off. It's entirely possible that whoever did the icon didn't realize that they had seen a clock like that before and thus didn't realize they migh

One of the reasons that I really like the Groovy language as an alternative to Java is that it's features often save you typing (for example getters/setters on a POJO) but still allow you to get in and override the default behavior. So it i

I don't know about others, but I'm thinking I would turn on static typing when I think I'm done developing something (as a way of verifying my code is correct).

Yes, but the new static compilation feature generates faster code. The only downside is you are restricted from using some of the more dynamic aspects of groovy (mostly meta-programming).

The static features in Groovy 2.0 look like they were integrated from the Groovy++ project. Seeing as how there was an entire side-project created by the community I'd say there was a big interest in adding static type checking to Groovy.

I kind of wanted to vote for groovy. It's pretty much what you get if Java and Ruby had a baby and is a pleasant language to work with. Truthfully though, I like a lot of the languages on that list so it's hard to pick just one as a favorit
