I'm not really surprised, they didn't exactly have a plan to make money from turntable.fm. I loved the concept, but I find it a bit too distracting to listen to most of the time anyway.

Not only that, but the range for a battery-powered helicopter is going to be severely limited.

I wonder if future tesla cars will eventually have some way automatically detecting a possible collision like this and adjusting the suspension accordingly without driver interaction?

According to the Roadmap, they are planning on retrofitting Java 8 syntax in Groovy 3.

Are you kidding!? I found EGit to be extremely buggy, not at all matching git's conceptual model, and difficult to use/navigate. Compared to the hg plugin for Eclipse or gti's command line it is light years behind. The only t

There is definitely a _huge_ difference in performance for the same Steam Store pages between the app and looking at the same page in a browser. Seems like something is poorly optimized in the application.

I have the exact opposite problem in math courses. I can visualize the transformations and what the math means, I can know the exact approach to take to solve a problem, but I can't seem to get all the way through without making stupid

Picking variable names can definitely involve tradeoffs. For example, how long the variable name will be could be a tradeoff based on how much information the rest of your team has about the context in which the variable will be used. Do yo

We've been using the prevent force push hook for Atlassian's Stash on my team to avoid situations like this. If you really need to force push, you can get around it by deleting the branch and re-creating the branch.

Amen! I hate how (at least in American culture) we men are portrayed as having no self control. When did society get such a low opinion of us?

I would also find it useful to just run the planning poker session without having to enter any stories. We are often looking directly at our JIRA board and don't need to fill in any information on a planning poker site.

I wonder how much company size impacts the ability for auto manufacturers to innovate. Seems like (in general) the larger a company is, the more slowly they innovate. Tesla has ~3,000 employees while BMW has ~100,000 according to wikipedia.

That's a nice safety feature. The other nice feature that most of the commenters here seem to have missed is that these devices are designed to improve your Nest's auto thermostat feature by knowing where people are in your house.

My dad is a pilot for Delta. Many of the pilots simply buy their own iPads rather than use the MS Surface provided by Delta. For Pilots, the iPad is light-years ahead of the Surface in terms of apps. It's also quite a bit ahead of andr

It sounds to me like you would be able to use the trackpad regions as either "joysticks" or "trackpads" which means for an RTS game you would be no worse off than using a trackpad over a mouse. Other games might be bette

Don't forget, many games already support the Apple TV. Instead of installing the game on the Apple TV, you play the game on your iPhone/iPad/iPod and the game streams videos to the Apple TV. Some games even have a dual screen

One thing that I've found handy on a few occasions is Atlassian Source Tree. You can stage individual lines, not just individual hunks. Sometimes that makes it much easier to pull apart the changes.

The main difference in my mind is that innovation in software is relatively cheap compared to innovation in material goods. With material goods, the only way to know if your innovation works is to make a bunch of it and hope it sells. Softw

I think that the insurance companies are the real problem in the US. I pay the insurance company, who pays the doctor, who pays the insurance company. The costs go up in the opposite direction. Seems like a vicious cycle.

I've always wondered if it wouldn't be interesting to treat certain parts of a web application kind of like Objective-C NIB files. NIBs are sort of used to load new code into the application at run-time. We could do something simi

I kind of think of backbone.js as a set of patterns to write your code in, but then someone went in and abstracted the common pieces out so you don't have to reinvent the wheel. A simple example is the Backbone Events module. Sure, you
