I wanted to offer another reply: I think it's dangerous to engineer for moderating against terrorism/extremism. Surely there are things Google and Facebook could do but if it were me I would not want to. There are automated way

At the scale of Google and Facebook, I'm not sure it's possible to individually "know" their customer.

I wonder if there would be any issue with creating a service for identifying Congress members (by IP or browser identity or something) to perpetually block them from accessing sites we would consider to be important. There's a danger

I'm not sure HN celebrates products for simply being successfully marketed. That said, I do think they made a way of handling a data model pleasurable. Different paradigm++

I'm of the opinion surveillance will not decrease or stop, so we should find screwy ways of having it work for a societal positive - and not be a fixture in the landscape on the war on terror.

I was using it like an inside thought? - that's a weird reference to make. I chose an arbitrary number of balanced parenthesis to signify an inside thought.

I will admit that terrorism does not affect me personally here - not in the direct way you have experienced. I am sorry if I seemed insensitive. I feel that largely we don't innovate for the good of society anymore - only to gain grea

I wish as technology becomes available which could be used for more Orwellian surveillance someone stood back and thought about ways it could be used for good rather than defending some absurd fear of terrorist attacks. Like... I remember a

My impression was most of the cell towers were owned by either AT&T or Verizon - how can TMobile and others be competitive? I had assumed they were buying to use the networks of the existing 2? I know I'm uninformed, I'm ask

Speaking as a naive outside observer, I am excited with the rumors that Microsoft and Apple will be making a move toward ARM in the nearish future. I don't think ARM is the answer (dear god give us riscv) but I see it as a step in the
