Yeah. I like BitBucket as well. I'm just more of a Git guy right now, and all of my favorite projects and people are on GitHub. It's got a social-network lock-in effect for me right now. I can't leave and go somewhere that has none of my fr

I accepted your patch... ;) John had already given me contributor access so I went ahead and followed his lead. GitHub is excellent.

I'm not decrying abstractions. I am the biggest proponent of abstractions on the planet. What I disagree with is the tendency to use the same monstrous framework for every project, regardless of size, scope, and purpose. And part of my comp

Wow. Not a good way to interface with potentially new customers. I'm surprised. I had no idea they thought their software was worth that much. I could whip together something in much less time to interface with Google Talk or IRC or somethi

I use Disqus for everything. I can't say enough great things about them. Totally easy integration and all the sexy features that you'd want in a comment system. The only thing I would be concerned with is how they plan on making money in th

Yeah, I plan on having multiple bible translations available by launch. I prefer NASB so that's what I'm using in the demo, but it's pretty trivial for me to add other translations.

You're right. This was an extreme exaggeration. But honestly I'm mostly just looking for advice and a few suggestions. I really am only looking for about 30 minutes of someones time. Didn't mean to imply that anyone's design work should onl

More sage advice. Thanks. This is really the first app I've ever built where I didn't have a design to work with from the beginning so I feel flustered on how to improve things. My design abilities are pretty much limited to making nice act

Ok. I can accept that. Thanks for the advice. I was already leaning towards 99designs, but posted the original question to see if there were any alternatives or any other successes that others have had with other possibilities. Thanks again

Yep. And I don't think the work I need done really requires a huge design firm or even a dedicated designer. I really ONLY need a few color options and some advice on styling. I can do the CSS myself, I just lack the eye for the creative wo

You're mostly right. It doesn't really matter, and I _CAN_ spend a few hundred. I guess I'm looking for advice on WHERE to spend that few hundred. Has anyone had any luck with 99designs.com? Are there alternatives?
