Md slides day? Nice to see another option. I use Keynote/Powerpoint only if I absolutely have to nowadays (collaboration). The simplicity of plain text -> slides really speaks to me. Here's another: https://remarkjs.

How simple, though...? # title - item1 - item2 some paragraph with an *italic* word -> <html> <body> <h1>title</h1> <ul> <li>item1</li>

You seem to miss the idea of Markdown. In its original form it was simply an aid to get static html from human readable text (<- that there is the basis for md). For better or worse, it's been forked a few times, adding new abilit

As someone who is only half a linguist, but who work closely with established researchers, this odd variant of "language exotism" is far too common, even in 2017. For others, it's far too English-centric (dismissals from well

Thank you so much for this writeup - it does ring a bell! Don't worry about references. This is more than enough to get me re-started, dig through my old books/articles and find new ones. > Further, even under this alternative

Thanks for your reply. I believe 主語 covers both subject and topic. Since an English sentence such as "John loves Mary." can be understood as e.g. "It is John (not James) who loves Mary." or "John loves Mary (not Lis

1. You can't topicalise the subject of a subordinate clause. 2. Only plain form is valid for verbs in a subordinate clause. (maybe the particle "kara" could be seen as an exception here)

I couldn't call myself a programmer - most of what I've done are smaller things that help out at work - but I'm slowly improving. If you are implying that there is an abundance of resources out there, you are of course correc

This is so nice to read after having seen my sister's children receive laptops at school. No one was actually giving them any system knowledge. No programming, no "how does a computer work, what is a file...", no support/

Wouldn't Xetex + fontspec take care of that, including unicode needs? Though, I'm curious what comes of this. Currently the "official" install/build method via make fails on my mac (sierra - could be some other issu

Using the official, graphical installer for Python 3 on Windows with no previous version installed creates an executable 'python' that refers to Python 3. (Normally not a Windows user so I have no idea why this is the case or if b

I absolutely love Iosevka - language/character support (IPA!), efficient yet legible, lots of weights/character variants... A bit surprised how seldom it's mentioned, to be honest.

I dare say anyone who plays a musical instrument does exactly this. I for sure do not explicitly count the bars when playing (save for some longer pauses) as it would only get in the way. On the surface it seems to work fine via feedback fr
