This is a massive generalization, made far too early in the lifecycle of a new platform. Don’t take this advice. Similar criticisms could have been aimed at developing iPhone apps, which have spawned many multi billion dollar companies.

I’m pretty technical but the one thing I’ve sworn off is DIY email servers. It’s not worth the pain.

How does this stuff get in the front page? Look, I’m all up for challenging PG’s essays and I think he has no problem with that, but this post is flat out garbage in every way.

Isn’t YC just a numbers game? Back enough companies and hopefully some will be winners.

I saw a fascinating documentary that said the entire surface of Venus is only about 500 million years old. Which implies that the entire surface was molten at the same time and has only recently cooled. 500 million years being “recent”.

You don’t need a cofounder. You don’t need a VC/funding. You don’t need to over identify self with business.

Oh ok that’s encouraging. It does use an fpga for graphics. That’s kinda surprising I would have thought there’d be a suitable graphics chip off the shelf.

Retro machines always feel less authentic to me when they use an fpga for the CPU instead of an actual retro CPU or descendant of. Just opinion of course. Retro is whatever it means to you.

It’s strange. In the tech industry, whenever you express any self doubt, people read that as you saying you have impostor syndrome. Why is that?

I just saw, after over 18 months of off and on development, that some other company has exactly implemented my idea, minus one key feature. They did a really great comprehensive job. After wailing and licking my wounds for a day I decided t

Silicon Valley normalises these sort of lies as ethical. It’s not lying, it’s “hustle”. There’s ways to present that aren’t outright deceptive. It’s a strange blog post because it’s not an admission to be proud of.

Dave Lebling invented the first person shooter? The irony is beyond belief. For those who don’t know Dave was a key player in Infocom text adventures, the antithesis of graphic games.
