If Google corrects a spelling mistake for a user: did you mean x? than that is counted as a bad user experience. If a user gives up on Bing and goes to Google to refine her search, than that is counted a good user experience for Bing.

I had to read the original paper in the first week of college, so my knowledge may be a little rusty, but wasn't the paper titled: Computing Machinery and Intelligence ? I'm sure the question was asked: Can machines think? But passing the

I agree with you on that. AI has advanced beyond rigid structures and scripts. Using a system that operates with fuzzy logic or building a neural network and teaching it, 'till you the programmer can't make heads or tails of its computation

He does understand. The Turing test is to answer if machines can feign human intelligence. To pass a Turing test, feigning (not necessarily possessing) intelligence is enough. The answer to insight into a system's qualia is not a Turing tes

It's all about semantics with philosophers ;) Searle claims through this experiment that strong AI does not exist. The robot in the room doesn't know how to talk Chinese, it just matches up symbols by using an elaborate dictionary. Turing d

Arguing that consciousness and the brain is different from deterministic algorithms, or neural networks is perfectly valid. It doesn't show lack of understanding of AI. Just that the debater is not an adherer of strong AI functionalism. Usi

Instead of a Kill Switch, I think it would be possible to make a Flood Switch. When enough shit would hit the fan, to make the president issue the Kill order, all bets would be off. Let's say Americans are using Twitter or a foreign website

Do you offer a simple input field for users, where they can enter a URL? I think the bookmarklet is a bit high threshold for some (if not most) users. Telling them to copy+paste a website URL and enter it into a field on their control panel

"This is pure nonsense, and so is the rest of your post." Thank you. I don't really know how to respond to this, but maybe say that your own statement is so weak it just contains its own counterargument. "[The business of] search is not abo

"It's not Ad Hominem because the Bing team isn't personally insulting Cutts or Singhai. If anything, it's just using malicious sounding buzzwords. A honeypot isn't even isn't even a type of attack: it's a type of defense." They not directl

There were AI algorithms in 1999 that described doing exactly this. Pagerank is perfect for the web. Agreed, tracking people like ants, the links they click on as pheromone trails, makes for a great program: 90% of users visiting website A

Yes, but then this also means that for every term in Bing's index, "how it ranks on Google" is 1 of the 1000 factors. It takes a very obscure term to show it, but we shouldn't conclude from that, it happens only for obscure terms. BING!

From a logical debating point of view, this post is really weak. If I were an engineer at Google, and I caught Bing at this, I would be upset, to the point I couldn't sleep. This is one of the lowest things you can do in academia, and even
