From what I see, they didn't consider untruthy answers on what people voted. Not sure how relevant this is, but considering this year's presidential election's actual votes compared to surveys might significantly change thi

Hm, this sounds like a software-based solution right? But if you have software only letting certain data pass, couldn't the same software just be run by the main device instead of an intermediate one?

One single common method is enough if that's the only one used in said context. Sure, different types shouldn't use the same method name for different functionality, but it happens. And when such a scenario happens, I imagine it w

From what I understand, this is basically what happens for most online credit card payments. If you enter your credentials, you're redirected to a verification page by the issuer where you have to enter a password or SMS-sent key. On s

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I actually like both. It just takes more time to get up to speed and there is more surface of attack for devs to screw things up. That's also what I don't like e.g. about JS: It's so

I can see this soon to be overrun by people trying to mislead it, like what happened to Microsoft's "Tay" on Twitter. Suddenly, ships will be penises and bananas will be Hitler.

Another big reason is maturity of the software. I've been using Linux and Windows in parallel for years now and even though it got better recently, I still stumble over minor bugs, inconsistencies, usability slips and such on Linux whi

I received such a mail from Microsoft a few years back. It was something related to WP/W8 development with thousands or tens of thousands (IIRC) of email addresses in the "to" field, so probably all registered app devs. I tri

I was a bit afraid of smudges too, but it's really not an issue. Under normal conditions, they're not visible while the screen is on. And when it gets too dirty, a touchscreen is much easier and safer to clean than a standard one.

It looks like Apple is trying to find an alternative to touchscreens just because Steve Jobs once said they're bad. For me, touchscreens are perfectly useful on laptops, since directly tapping something is much quicker than moving my h
