Awesome! This is the first real confirmation that Google is going to ship Native Client to end users as a supported technology. They'd intentionally kept it off the agenda when introducing ChromeOS before, so it wasn't clear to me that they

None of those are remotely Unixy from a user perspective. Neither the iPhone nor WebOS ever expose a filesystem to the user. Neither Android nor WebOS expose Unix to App developers. Android doesn't even present a real Unix system to the OS

Reddit itself is hosted on EC2, right? I use scripts ( http://github.com/wr0ngway/rubber/ ) to boot up, configure, and deploy to my instances from a stock Ubuntu AMI -- but from the looks of this maybe you set up and maintain AMIs for each

Will they start using GStreamer in Firefox like in one of their Fennec branches, or will they just add libvpx along with the existing liboggplay and implement their own half-baked media handling layer?

OOXML is no easier to decode than the old memory-dump and COM-based DOC formats which were comprehensively documented first by third parties and then Microsoft. It's just like how SWF was trivial to decode long before it was 'opened'. Conta

FAT may be an incredibly shitty lowest common denominator, but that's completely irrelevant here. The SD card can't be used reliably because upstream never provided a common API for all apps to interface with it. They didn't even have the c

The SD card in Android is a gibbering nightmare in far more ways than that. For starters, that it's necessary at all! The first devices all had only 256mb of flash, but then the OS got bigger than that (can't upgrade older devices cleanly!)

The real problem is that pure content is being treated as an application. There needs to be a separate whole section of the iTunes Store for this shit: Music, Movies, TV, Apps, Interactive . It'd come with its own Webkit-based development
