Are you sure that's what that's for? When I go to that setting (which I'd already set to "no one" in an earlier privacy audit), the example it shows of what it controls is very different from the "related post" issue that's being complaine

His description of the public reviewing system---and the idea of a review as a versioned public document that might itself contain new ideas---made me think of the state of affairs in the infancy of modern science, where the forerunner of t

Actually, the article does say it---just above the heading for "Privacy concerns". It also says, near the end, that of the new contracts, two are with companies that use millimeter-wave, and one is with a company that uses backscatter. So t

As much as I support marijuana legalisation, I'm always puzzled at the righteous anger summoned against the federal government for prosecutions like this---how dare they, when the states have said it's legal! The problem is, that argument

Meat (or rather, animals) also consume a lot more resources to produce the same amount of available-nutrient output. I'm a meat-eater too, and I agree with your assessment, but it's a little disingenuous to pretend that vegetarians have no

Just personal experience. When I installed Xubuntu 12.10 (not an upgrade---it was on a machine previously running MacOS only), every time I started to type a URL into Firefox's location bar, the popdown list would include not only history

The article is pretty clear about what the author considers to be the price: doctors are less able to give personal treatment and more likely to burn out and want to retire as early as they can. (Whether you agree is another question, but

Sci fi authors have, for decades now, envisioned a future with ubiquitous, pervasive advertising. That doesn't mean we shouldn't fight it, but we shouldn't really be surprised....

This sounds nifty, but what I'd love to know is, what's the rate of filling, for an apparatus that's small enough to be roughly bottle-sized? Obviously many of the technical details (battery size, etc) are still being worked out, but I'm b

In fact, the text of the 2010 post appears to be almost entirely lifted (without attribution!) from this 2006 post you cite. The wood-inlay board is very nice but the design of the illustrations appears to be lifted from the earlier post a

I'd be curious to hear this as well. There are many parts of the country (a vast majority by area, and a not-insignificant minority by population) where housing is way less than $100/sqft. In the (small) city I just moved from, $30-40/sqf

Interesting code of ethics you're proposing there: that it's actually unethical not to take advantage of people, and your only ethical responsibility is to the people who pay you. Convenient, I'm sure.

It'd be unethical if you knew $500 was undervalued and you thought Ferrari didn't , i.e. if they were inexperienced and possibly accidentally undervaluing their own car. Then you would be taking advantage of them.
