Just a few observations: - Async... The Django way of doing things... Celery -> it's a background task system which is like bringing a bazooka to kill a fly for what you wanted to do (I assume proxying the request to an external API

We do - the monthly bill was about 30k when I joined and I was able to drop it down to 15k in a month by refactoring the majority of the infra (mainly backend workers). DB is the biggest limiting factor - pricing is absolute rubbish. You ca

Does anyone have experience with countryside in Italy (Tuscany specifically) or Spain? I'd love to move there in a few years and start producing wine on a smaller scale.

I assume this should be renamed to Django Views Cheatsheets instead of Dango Views Cheatsheets?

What are some reliable alternatives for both iOS and Android? I'm unsure how are Apple Maps, but they were hideous a while back for Eastern Europe at least.

1) Absolutely - I have been working for the US companies as an FTE (remotely, but C2C, essentially a contractor), and sometimes the hours do make an issue. It's a 9 hour difference with the West Coast for me, but Central / Easter

Absolutely - every experience matters. In Southeastern Europe - you get what you pay for. We would definitely not try to hire anyone with less than 5 years of experience, thoroughly vetted before even talking to the US companies and/or

True, it's a hard niche to fill, and yup, slightly confusing even. We'd aim for development companies within the US that have some "outsourcing" presence around the world, but have not tapped into Eastern Europe yet. Wha

True and fair point! I have been trying to change that mindset for a while. One major thing I believe is the uncertainty of contracting - they never know when they may not be needed again. However, if an EE dev can align himself with the co

Not to downplay the tech, but you could replicate majority of the tech nowadays with proper engineering effort, proper timeline and a budget. YouTube competitor would need to beat them in the business side of things, which is extremely hard

I know it's not completely related to the thread - but how is Rails vs Django in terms of performance? I'm getting subjective information that Rails is much faster for APIs in terms of response times, serialization speed etc. alth

I'm also in Europe, in a small Eastern European country and we definitely heard of them. My inner circle also heard of them - maybe you guys are just way into V8 or 3.0L V6 :) ?

We have lithium and Jadarite[0] reserves in Serbia. Is potentially just trading the ore and/or moving the processing out of Serbia viable? However, with Rio Tinto investing, we're not looking solid environmentally. [0] - https:&#

I was at the Zurich airport while I had a connecting flight to Barcelona from Belgrade. My friend and I briefly spoke about Zlatibor (a city in Serbia), 30 seconds later I got an ad for a hotel in Zlatibor, in the middle of Zurich Airport.

China has already targeted Serbia and Montenegro - infrastructure mainly. I can't find the source now, but I have heard they already started investing in Hungary.

Does specialized staff dev mean you work with a very specific tech stack? If so, do you mind sharing what it is? Also do you work 100% remotely within the States or from another country?
