I am going to assume that your first comment is directed at a "lack of interest" from buyers in "Showrooms". I am pretty sure all the 2013 models have been pre-sold, and the waiting list for the next year is 1500 deep.

I agree with you on all except one front. Does the term "startup" always have to be about technology? Yeah sure, on this board, 99% of the time the definition has to do with a technology venture, but I think classifying the typical outcomes

That is a great idea. I haven't even thought about the weight of the pictures meant for the retina display on an iPad. When I build up an iPad retina app I will definitely not be forcing the mass of data down an iPhone user's throat.
