That being said, I created desktop notifications so that I can get answers...NOW. I am able to see exactly when someone visits my page in realtime, intercept, and initiate a chat.

Hey unwind, It's not just about speed of response. There are many programming issues that don't fit the SO format. They are open ended in nature and call for a conversation.

3 seconds includes closing AND starting the IPython shell. Typing "exit" or ctrl + d + return adds a little time and is generally annoying. The builtin Python shell is admittedly faster to start/stop but IPython's features rock.

Your point is well taken; however, as the writer of the article, I'd say this. Our business requirements dictate that slightly inconsistent data is acceptable in certain circumstances. We would not retrieve objects through the caching flow
