I don't entirely disagree with you, but ImtelliSense might have increased the prevalence of long and stupid symbol names. Had people been forced to type out names, their naming might have been more careful.

I have never played a fantasy game where characters regularly had to take a dump (maybe Dwarf Fortress has defecation but it's more of a simulator game than an rpg). Yet the lack of shitting in fantasy games has not caused hordes of

There are hundreds of DSLs for ASIC design but not a single one of them has ever been used for actual tapeout . It's 100% unheard of. Hence, I doubt your DSL saved any time over using an RTL language directly. Sorry for sounding harsh

For the longest time a mmorpg I used to play used to have gender-based bonuses an maluses. So a woman would make a shitty warrior and a man an under-powered mage. On the game's boards this was argued about forever because many girls wa

A modern ALU has multiple pipelined data paths for its operations. So maybe three adders with a one-cycle latency, two multipliers with a three-cycle latency, and one divider with a 16-cycle latency. Sustained throughput depends on the oper

Herding is the best defense. If everyone who expresses opinions online do so non-anonymously it becomes much more difficult for the sleuths to target specific individuals. If everyone runs the risk of getting "sniped" for somethin

That's because Yahweh was a sky god and lived high up in the clouds. So raising your hands, standing on mountain tops, etc, reduces your distance to him. Raising your hands while praying doesn't make as much sense anymore since He

Not a lot. The limiting factor is the wiring and not the size of the elements themselves. So one bit of ROM might be much smaller than one bit of RAM, but it's irrelevant because the size and length of the wires transferring that bit t

That data does exist but is mysteriously excluded. Perhaps because it doesn't support the race bait? Moreover, contrary to the figure's claims, PISA does not exclude immigrants. It's just a hodgepodge of crappy statistics.

It's ironic that your comment includes immigrants to show that America is great, while other comments exclude immigrants to show that America is not so bad.

I'm a bit skeptical because real source can be quite messy. Parsing C source code works because there are neither comments nor preprocessor directives to consider. You have clean input which you can map into an AST using well-defined r

Agree with this. Calling SIMD superscalar is a misnomer since it is single instruction (multiple data) with very wide data paths. Superscalar implies multiple different instructions in parallel, such as adding a pair of numbers, while s

Maybe I'm wrong then. But there has been many slightly-different-sampling-method papers in the past that showed impressive results which were then difficult to replicate on other models or experimental setups.
