Not just you, I've yet to have a card with a non numeric month. Instead of being friendly, putting month name is a usability loss. Are cards with names instead of numbers the majority in the US?

Something that seems universal: dropping off a courier delivery card without actually attempting delivery. Why is this? Do they do this more often for residential addresses? Are they incentivised monetarily to power through as many "deliver

This was me in 1998. I ended up halfway around the world, in New Zealand. Getting paid well, enjoying what I'm working on. You won't really have more free time than you have now, your life starts filling up with things that demand your time

A Fire Upon The Deep is one of my favourite sci-fi novels...I thought the idea of high technology (FTL, intelligences living in manufactured substrates, etc) only working in certain parts of the galaxy was pretty unique. I read it before

The chips are most likely for EMV[1], which essentially puts some intelligence on the card in the form of an IC chip, and allows the card to make approve/deny decisions based on rules of the issuing bank. With EMV cards, the transaction is

With an SSD by default, the 13" MBP should offer a decent boost in performance over the Air, so I think it still has a place with its better upgrade options. Recall, it's also the best-selling MBP. I'm hoping they announce the new lineup so

That's amazing, 4 years of hacking away to get to a functional working system. The diaries are great and well worth the read, especially the bring up attempts.
