"Is it because you think there are no meaningful differences across sexes?" I agree with the GP, but not with this comment. Obviously there are meaningful differences between the sexes. But there are other ways to group people, as well: - G

- Putty/OpenSSH - RealVNC - VMWare Server I love being able to sit at one [desktop] computer and control 6 others. Some run embedded software, some are servers, some are virtual.

I have the same problem. Startup time is over a second on some modern systems. There is some good advice on how to avoid this on Stack Overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/778716/how-can-i-make-ema...

I probably use multi-linear regression most often, but occasionally I'll encounter a Linear Programming problem. I'm currently looking for a good Partial Least Squares algorithm in C/C++. Any suggestions? I know R has a popular PLS algorith

I'm curious why you think the Foundation Trilogy aged badly? I recently re-read Foundation; it's still one of my favorites. It takes a completely unique perspective on the future of human civilization.

This article does make a good point. It has been my experience that highway traffic can move more quickly when people do not change lanes. I have seen this happen a couple times in very snowy conditions; the traffic density was such that it

There are a couple other points, though: - Chrome is only available for Windows ATM. Windows boxes are apparently more difficult to crack than Macs. - Chrome runs in a sandbox, unlike IE or Safari, which adds some security as well.
