Glad to see Apple finally doing this. As an Android developer, who has an app that uses a device's contact information, Google has had something similar for the longest time. Android readily allows a developer to grab very specific con

How does powersave mode help here? All it does is slow everything down when you're in that workspace.

I'm looking forward to see Kotlin take advantage of more of these new features.

I think the point is Kotlin incorporated great stuff from a few languages, Scala being one of them.

While I came to Kotlin for Android, I'll admit that I've been making things look like nails so that I can use the Kotlin hammer.

The BSD license is more permissive than the GPL/Linux license, so one could argue source code investments made here can more readily be integrated into all systems, even closed source.

This is a major part of why I switched to Linux! Microsoft is literally killing the desktop by turning Windows into a tablet OS! There are still many great DEs on Linux that are actually DEs!

Ah yes. The great collection of games, still maintained. Always enjoy OpenBSD for its security, but got to hand it to the team for continuing to be fun-loving and producing artwork and songs for every release/every six months, like clo

Seconded; while the occasional legacy program might have issues, I'm happily doing 4K with scaling in KDE with Wayland.

I thought about going down this route, but decided not to; if Microsoft is purposefully making it challenging to make Windows usable, why should I devote resources trying to fight it?

I recently migrated from Windows to Linux. I bought a new machine with Windows 11 Pro preinstalled and it was a cesspool of Microsoft ads for their services coming from within the OS and preinstalled apps. It was happening so often, and a

Reminds me of something Reddit did just recently... I think when the AI scraping funding models go away, all these APIs will magically open up again.

This has already been happening for quite some time with users ignoring Google search and searching Reddit directly. The irony is that, I assume, most of Reddit's income right now is coming from content licensing deals with AI companie

I do have a notebook with plenty of RAM, so I haven't bothered with swap, but I'm new to Linux. Without swap configured, what happens when tmpfs uses all the memory that's been allocated to it? Thanks.
