"Suffering" isn't a great translation of the Sanskrit word "dukkha". It's too broad. The Buddha talks about a very specific type of suffering that I think of as: "the desire for things to be different than

If you happen to install a lot of things with cargo, check out cargo-binstall: https://github.com/cargo-bins/cargo-binstall It'll fetch the binary release from the repo so you don't have to compile it yoursel

Unbelievable. So if they don't use Nix they simply don't deserve to use the software? I really wish people wouldn't get so zealous all the time about their favorite technology.

my issue with that solution is it makes directory changes with `use asdf` in the envrc slow. Of course that's not as bad as making all of the runtimes slow, but still intolerable IMO.

that would be unrealistic at least for now. The plugins are all written in bash. You'd first need to rewrite enough plugins for it to be useful. Maybe at one point if rtx takes off I could look into having plugins be in an alternate fo

What you described is fuzzy matching, basically just prefix matching. asdf has a handful of commands that let you do prefix matching like `asdf install nodejs latest:20.0` but they're not supported in `.tool-versions` files. This basic

direnv does cause problems, but there is a workaround that functions (calling rtx within direnv). The main problem is it's annoying since you need .envrc and .tool-versions file littered through your apps (or just .envrc with "exp

I think "plant-based" is a better term than "vegan". "Vegan" describes a person or food. "Plant-based" can only describe the food—you wouldn't say "Bob is plant-based", you'd say &

Every single comment I've posted on this topic (including the one you just replied to) I've been careful to point out that I expressly do not think such laws should exist.

I'm just saying the environmental cost is real. I feel people are dismissing it because "it's not legal to dump fluids" when the reality is that it's pretty common—and pretty hazardous at a local level. I think if y

I'm not in favor of this kind of law but I've also seen shade-tree mechanics show a complete disregard for the environment: dumping oil into the dirt, releasing freon into the atmosphere, etc.
