If you made a point about that, it was not clear to me. Perhaps you were implying that simple life could be very common even if intelligent life isn't. While yes, that is a possibility, that says nothing of its probability. Were that t

It is a fact that we haven't been eaten by a swarm of anything. Facts are evidence. If you don't understand that, I don't think we'll be having a productive or fun converstion. Sound more like you're interested in m

I'm curious what makes you think that. That is, of course, one of the general solutions put forth to the fermi paradox. Ie either the species develops species killing weapons (like nukes) or individuals gain massively destructive weapo

> That seems like a valid belief. Its not at all clear in general. It might be true. But it also might not. It seems quite reasonable to believe that life inevitably evolves into intelligent life if given enough time. Why some life wou

There are, in fact, reasons to believe that. Nothing definitive of course. But the fact that we haven't been absorbed by a von neumann swarm or something like it places strict limits on the prevalence of life and/or what stages th

This is fascinating. It's like a more complex game of life than John connoway's. It's crazy that little creatures seem to form at such small scales easily with these parameters. It's almost like the parameters of our rea

Yet another parser combinator library with a couple unique features: * State, which helps for contextful languages of any reasonable amount of complexity (like ones that have LR conflicts or whitespace delimiting). * Supports parameterized

Hopefully your interview process weeds out most of them. Beyond that, companies should be evaluating their devs in the first 3 months. After that length of time you can really know pretty well how good they are at what you want them to be d

Ah. Well as others have pointed out, its likely that people will need to go to atms less often (since they can send directly with their app) and that amounts handled at atms would be substantially lower (because when using the lightning net

Criminal hotspots? How so? Are ATMs usually criminal hotspots? If you're thinking that bitcoin ATMs can help people launder money, you're mistaken.

I guess if you actually keep food material off the cardboard you put into the recycling, it should be fine. The vast majority of pizza boxes I've seen have way too much food material on them to be recyclable. TBH paper is hardly worth

Currencies like nano are cheaper, not "more efficient". They're the bargain bin of cryptocurrency. Nanos design has no breaks and then people are surprised when it has enormous problems like spam attacks.

Really bizarre that this author refers to the college student as a "child" and refers to college students in the 70s as "proto-adults" implying that today college students are children. College students are young adults.
