It's not that simple though, they do maintenance on cars as well so they'd need to be able to access those access codes as well. There probably should've been some oversight to make sure someone looking up thousands of VINs

Your fear is generally misplaced, here[0] are police misconduct stats (granted they don't count every single episode of police misconduct) and here[1] are crime stats. Certainly one episode of police misconduct is too much, but it

It's definitely not fat, when people with horrible diets eat less sodium they lose a surprising amount of water weight. I've seen estimates an extra 400mg of sodium being retained leading to an extra kilogram of water.
