I'm a software dev in the US and I never call myself "engineer" in that capacity. Always "programmer" or "developer". I agree. Engineers have to clear a much higher bar. Even though my career was spent in

Ironically, gait analysis is considered iron clad scientific evidence when used against impoverished black guys like in the Taylor trial. Just kind of displays the. corruption and duplicity of the US legal system.

Apparently not. Maryland residents didn’t sign any of these agreements in other states. Nor did their elected representatives. They were just presented with the bill to support the infrastructure in the other states because, you know, they’

Isn't the old adage that democracy was never good, it was always just better than all the other forms of government. It got more done. It advanced economies more. Etc etc etc. Then we torched it at just about the same time as the Chine

Well just to be clear from a legal perspective, in the case of AI, as long as AI is "property", the owners, developers, and/or users will be held liable for things like the hypothetical fatal car accident that Sussman posits.

The nature of expert systems is to become experts on a system. The reason you need a doctor, or more often, let's be honest, a good nurse, is because systems can fail in any one of 10000 as yet undiscovered ways. New nurses. New reside

I'm a bit confused. Were you aware there is actually a law in China requiring physical buttons? I think from next year it applies to everyone. Not only Chinese makers. What were the other physical controls you were thinking of?

Yep. Eventually, access to Chinese models may be illegal in the US. I tell every developer I work with, download them as fast as possible. You never know when this administration could cut off access.
