>> the space bar doesn't need to be so big When I realized this it was eye opening. I used to have an MIT layout Planck (2u) spacebar, I tried a full grid and it feels perfect for spacebar to just be another 1u key.

I thought Plancks looked neat so I built one and haven’t look back. This will be my 6th year as an ortho-ian.

Echoing what others have said, start granular budgeting and work on increasing your salary. A couple years ago I finished the year feeling like I lost money, even though all my bills were paid. I painfully dug through every transaction from

When I attend conferences in Vegas, I set a $300 budget for craps. I try to find $5 tables (really tough to do anymore) and just play for as long as possible getting drinks and having fun. I make it out ahead about 40% of the time, but I al

I sort of agree. When I was first getting into Vim, reading a couple of well documented vimrcs really helped me out.

I just finished up a talk using a ZK like system, and I ended up revisiting my notes a few times. From my perspective, note taking has been useful for very specific applications like writing a blog post or preso, but I have piles of random

I once had to implement SOAR in a “no code” automation solution (it was not Tines), and it was terrible. There were a lot of connectors and transformers, but almost all of them had some weird quirks that made them hard to use effectively. C

As a counterpoint, I have playlists from 2015 that are still complete. I listen to a lot of music and have only seen a full album removed once, and have seen a dozen or less songs removed. Not saying the original commenter is wrong, just sh

I totally understand the joy of building something. I made a bunch of “sensor turns on an LED” projects, but nothing scratched my maker itch like building something I actively use everyday.

I “tried out” a Planck on a whim for a month in 2017 and never looked back. I currently use a Levinson and it just about perfect (I wish I could find a solid aluminum case and then it would be perfect).

I use an Ortholinear keyboard and I remapped all the brackets to make more sense (to me). I also have few very common programming symbols on another layer like “:=“, “if __name__ …”, “try…except”. I have a layer that is my “network numpad”.

Bathroom speaker has been definite life improved for me. Side note: I try to find ones that don’t have really annoying “my battery is low” noises. I had one that played this terrible bell sound and it destroyed my morning vibe.

As far as I understand it, the core aspect of an impending “MOASS” is that GME stock is still shorted > 100%, but SI is currently reported at around 15%[0]. [0] https://www.marketbeat.com/stocks/NYSE/GME/sho

I never got too far into C, but I took a course on assembly and learned Erlang and Golang to a decent proficiency. Erlang gave me an appreciation of loops and recursion, Golang made me more aware of types and error handling, and assembly ju

FWIW, I don't think it was the moral or ethical thing to do. I didn't intend for my post to come off as if I thought it was. I shared this story in the context of process breakdown, not "stealing is ok". As for my thinki

I am currently a manager and the few times where I have said “I am going to write part of this solution my team is working on.” Were the times that I got a big pile of management work and blocked the team. I have since learned my lesson.

I poked around in the repo, but couldn’t see anything that jumps out at me as a differentiator compared to Obsidian or Roam. Is there anyone familiar with this software and it’s strengths compared to other tools?
