My blog is probably more detrimental to my “brand” than helpful. I also couldn’t care less about the self-promotion or monetization aspect or anything of that sort. I find writing and the act of creating to be a type of catharsis. I write e

To push back on this idea a bit - my family buys a share from a CSA (community supported agriculture). Our CSA is a local organic farm operating on about 4 acres of land. They grow enough food for ~30 CSA shares and sell at farmers markets

Agreed. This is why I prefer the term “service oriented architecture” instead. A service should be whatever size its domain requires - but the purpose is to encapsulate a domain. A personal litmus test I have for “is the service improperly

I don’t think it’s just google. Modern product management feels broken across the whole industry. Do these guys even talk to customers anymore?

Git bisect was an extremely powerful tool when I worked in a big-ball-of-mud codebase that had no test coverage and terrible abstractions which made it impossible to write meaningful tests in the first place. In that codebase it was far eas

Siri can tell the time (I just checked - I’ve never tried before now) and you’ve been able to remove people/cars from photos for a while now I believe. Looks like iOS 16? Still took way too long and it wouldn’t surprise me if it is cra

Orion was my daily driver on iOS/macOS for a fair bit ~8 months ago. It wasn’t the most stable and didn’t block ads reliably in YouTube videos either. Planning to give it another shot next year. I certainly like the Kagi ethos better t

There are debloat scripts for Win11 that are pretty effective. I use this one: https://github.com/Raphire/Win11Debloat Only issue is that Windows will periodically re-bloat itself - so you have to re-run it after more

I’ve been trying to re-orient for this exact kind of workflow and I honestly can’t declare whether it’s working. I’ve switched to using Rust because of the rich type system and pedantic yet helpful compiler errors. I focus on high level des

Having grown up in northern Indiana and having spent my honeymoon ski touring in Greenland - I must say I don’t find the two to be very comparable. The skiing was significantly better in Greenland and the people much friendlier to boot.

Can you tell us a bit more about your greenhouse/hoop house? I’m in the CO front range - so very dry, cool nights, but quite hot in the sun. Our patio is getting re-done and I’m thinking about how I might rebuild our planters to better

Docker with WSL2 runs fine and I use it for my light dev needs on my personal windows machine. Running K8s is the issue. WSL just had lots of instability issues in my experience when I had to run a handful of services for debugging stuff lo
