If you are a Windows person, I find OneNote to be indispensable. screen clippings, random thoughts, notes - whatever, really - are sorted, searchable, etc. It comes with certain versions of MS Office. http://www.onenote.com/

Poor choice of title IMO. This article is more about how to be productive than it is about bootstrapping. "1. Love the idea." or "2. Make sure the idea solves a problem / fills a need." just aren't specific to bootstrapping; those are reaso

Oh I would definitely have a huge expectation if I were to meet up with someone who had secured a $2m round from Sequoia - I understand you completely there. Angel funding of $100k though is often given to ID-10-Ts because the angels are no

I don't think that getting funding should rank you above other elements. I know that this particular board is probably more funding-oriented than others but a lot of us do not consider getting funded a necessity or even a sign of success. A

I've read a few of Guy's books including Hindsights and, out of them all, Hindsights is the one worth skipping for sure. This is just Guy trying to sell more copies of that book. I'm sure some people enjoyed it but I didn't.

I love to help out fellow entrepreneurs but, if I can't order it on the web w/o talking to a human, I'm just less likely to buy (especially when I can do that at so many other places). Perhaps I can buy from you on the web but your Products

Are you also happy that you're in a lower tax bracket because that means you'll pay less taxes? lol - I actually had someone say that to me last night. He probably doesn't like the idea of business cards either. Sorry - it's tax time here i

I've used them once and once was enough. The cards that I ordered were their premium variety but, when I received them, the card stock was poor and the cards were sloppily cut (meaning the bleeds looked poor). I would definitely pay more to

Is this is a total ripoff of Scott Hanselman and Jeff Atwood's post, "Build the Ultimate Developer Rig" ( http://www.hanselman.com/blog/TheCodingHorrorUltimateDevelop... ), or did he pick almost the identical components by himself? Maybe he

Craigslist is such a gamble. I've found that it's been mostly a waste of time. The way, IMO, to successfully use CL is to use an RSS reader that allows you to define "watches"/"alerts" (like FeedDemon). Create watches for the popular terms

I would suggest joel Spolsky's book on hiring tech folks. He mentions several methods and, although i"m only on page 30, (1) I like Joel's style/approach to most things, and (2) the first 30 pages made sense to me. it's called "Smart and Ge

Anyone so concerned with stats that does not work for HN is just looking for more places to waste their time instead of working on their hack/startup. This isn't your community; it's a website. You may think of it as your community but wher

Ditto. As a startup, MSFT makes it insanely cheap and easy to get started - for $300 you can buy their "Action Pack" which includes Windows Server, SQL, Exchange, Office, etc licenses for up to 10 people. When you get ready to take the next

I'll post the same thing here that I did at reddit: there's no use for this script since the Reddit Content Filter, another GM script, is already out there (and way superior - no offense meant). the RDF includes filtering by title, user, an

As I wrote in the post though, I just don't feel comfortable going with a totally free system - I don't like the idea frankly. I love free - don't get me wrong - but I don't always prefer free and this is just one of those times. Can they p

Are you suggesting that, if I'm patient enough, they'll change the focus of this back to startup news? 'Cuz I can get "hacker newz" at reddit/digg/slashdot/a-dozen-other-places... And what "solution" should I be part of? The one that makes
