I don't know, it's typical for my family. It seems inappropriate to me for people to set their furnace so high just so they can dress like it's summer in the winter.

If it's raining, then obviously it's not very cold outside. Unless you're in the habit of cranking your furnace up to tropical temperatures I guess. For me, I keep the temperature above freezing inside but otherwise? I put

What in the world does Russia have to do with any of this? Are they now presumed responsible every time anybody anywhere doubts anything a government official says?

I would not enter a stairwell that was filled with smoke. Smoke rises, so if there is smoke in the stairwell below me, it's probably also in the stairwell on my floor as well, though there may be a small window where I get mislead. N

I agree. Trampling is a real concern, but one that would have me running for the exits sooner, not waiting longer.

Maybe this is too cynical, but I think the only thing spy agencies consider off limits is getting caught. There are plenty of assassinations, torturings, etc that have been attributed to spy agencies. See also: https://en.wik

The Station nightclub fire had people get trapped at the entrance by a stampede, so it can happen. Ideally buildings are now designed to mitigate that, and should have occupancy limits set low enough by the fire marshal to facilitate immed

To be frank, if everybody else is sheltering in place, that means the staircases will be clear for me to run down. If everybody thinks as I do, maybe there will be problems. But, judging by my experience with staircases in America (namely

Exactly. These buildings are specifically designed to be escapable, at least before the fire becomes horrendously bad, so I'll choose to take advantage of that as quick as I can.

It seems to me that if the high-rise building truly resists the spread of fire, then sheltering in place is probably the optimal solution. However I just can't trust my own life to that. Furthermore one of the hazards used to justify

My point is that it's an inane observation that removing the addictive chemical from the equation will remove the incentives of addicts to purchase that product. This is "fire is hot" type stuff.

In real life, if you go meet a few, I am quite sure you will find that many Muslims do not take their scripture literally. It is the real world application of a religion by any particular adherent that impacts society, not what you happen

Much of what Islamic scholars preserved was also from Greece and Rome I believe. From what I understand, many Greek and Roman texts only exist today because they were transcribed and preserved by Islamic scholars.
