Heartbleed and Shellshock come to mind. There have been others, and the "revelations" of NSA et al actively poking or preventing the closing of holes in all kinds of software and hardware.

> if you simply pay $100k to trained employees Assuming 1) you can find trained employees, and 2) they are willing to work for $100k. If the value of the trained employee is $111k, then why would they work for $100k except for ignorance

I haven't tried Steam's streaming yet or Nvidia's Shield based streaming (have a Shield, but needs a 6 or greater series card and I have a 5 series). Splashtop does work with OS X, tablets, and phones, and also works over the

For this, check out Splashtop. I've been using it for years and it works great. They even have Win8 touch integrations so you can play Civ 5 touch, and an OS X client so you can use a Mac from a tablet or phone.

I feel like this is an obvious "duh" followed by "that doesn't go far enough." I feel like the real question is "do we need fighters or bombers at all?" Seems like we would just want delivery platforms f

Was my first thought, too, after reading about the link between the sugar industry and those early sugar studies. Seems to me like the scientific community should be overly open about its sources of funding, conflicts of interest, etc if it

Ugh. I hate to think of all of the "I told you so's" from the misguided people in Portland who continually vote against fluoridating the water with no actual scientific basis for doing so.

Also super happy with T-Mobile's speed- it's faster (bandwidth-wise) than my stupid U-verse. But the whole text message issue they have is driving me nuts to the point that I'll probably switch to another carrier with less a

Furthermore, depending on a number of factors, $60k is not a legal wage for a salaried software engineer in California. The minimum for an exempt employee as of 1 Jan 2015 is now $41.27 hourly, $7,165.12 per month, or an annual salary of no

Imminent danger of death? I want a Nest (that works, though this video is anecdotal and seems staged-ish) as much as the next person, but I have to silence a standard smoke detector once every never. It's inconvenient when I do, but l

I'm not suggesting that learning to code isn't "worth" 4 years and 250k, given no other option. I would say that there are far more efficient ways to learn to code and win that kind of job or salary.
