But it is a cross-platform GUI app, which the post was about. Granted, it is (or was?) experimental (so not production-grade), but the PoC for GUI app in Rust should be there (assuming they didn't use something else just for the GUI, I

I don't think I understand - where is any kind of framework mentioned? And even if frameworks were mentioned, I think it's a fair comparison to say "language A has battle-proven / easy-to-use / etc. framework to ach

We may need more time. IIRC, Firefox is incorporating some code written in Rust, and there's also Servo.

GP mentioned C++ being replaced by Rust - I'd say that a replacement should be as capable as the thing it replaces, so if that's the claim, then Rust should be at the very least OK for GUI apps. If it's not, then that's

Half-serious counterpoint: if you use electric space heaters, might as well mine bitcoin to heat up the house. In that case it's still rational to mine because you'd use that energy anyway.

I think it also ignores the fact that one of the big energy suppliers entered a war of territorial expansion and it may take a while until it's business as usual - I'd expect this to also affect energy prices.

Or a different definition of living paycheck to paycheck (as others commented, if one is out of money at the end of the month but one's net worth increased, I don't think that'd meet the definition).

I'm going to play the devil's advocate here and put out an opinion that having children is a choice (hopefully), and so living paycheck-to-paycheck also seem to be a choice in this case. It may boil down to defining what choice me

This argument can be used to justify forcing candidates to learn how to do double-entry bookkeeping (or insert other skill that you won't use on the job) just to see if they can learn. Yes, it checks if they can learn, yes, it is somew

I don't remember this was how putting an offer for a house worked. The seller is collecting a bunch of offers and picks the one they like the most. The offers can include escalation clause, but it's still more of a closed auction

To expand on that: it's on state, county, and city level - I believe all those jurisdictions can introduce a sales tax.

L-1 can be extended a couple of times (up to 7 years total I think?), so "soon" is relative (especially given that it gives you a couple tries at the H-1B, but only if you can hold on to the job). I think my main point still stand
