How do you plan to show up on time if one of your meetings ends at 2pm, the next one starts at 2pm, the meeting rooms are 3 floors apart, and you need to go to the restroom because you've been in meetings since lunch and need to pee? Y

For reference, I was an H-1B holder. My starting salary (straight out of college after finishing my master's) in one of the big tech companies was $95k base pay, this was 13 years ago. From my perspective, the visa program worked as in

Yes, this is how I make decisions, but it also depends on the category of decision. E.g. in entertainment, there's too much content available to care about one specific author / creator / etc (this also applies to "conso

Out of curiosity, what's the name of this tool? Your comment made me wonder if it's possible to reimplement it as FOSS.

I've only played with using 7900XT for locally hosting LLMs via ollama (this is on Windows, mind you) and things worked fine - e.g. devstral:24b was decently fast. I haven't had time to use it for anything even semi-serious though

The author doesn't mention this as an improvement to git, just showcases that an equivalent feature exists in jj. This is useful to me, a jj noob that was not aware it's possible.

This is only a selling point in places like USA. Even before moving to the USA 13 years ago I was able to send money via wire transfer domestically for free, and it settled within 1 business day (to me that's fast enough). IIUC nowaday

When I was at Microsoft, one test pass used pseudolocale (ps-PS IIRC) to catch all different weird things so this should have Just Worked (TM), but I was in Windows Server team so client SKUs may have been tested differently. Unfortunately

Anyone that worked at those companies would tell you that there is little discretion in how salaries are set for rank-and-file employees. There is certainly abuse, but I don't believe it happens in FAANG companies. Source: I worked for
