My 2 year old has learned to do this. It can be pretty amusing at times. Recently I overheard her tell Siri "I want to see pictures of Pooh, not pictures of poop".

Why not just push your work to a private GitHub repo? That would establish priority and ownership in a much clearer way than inserting a hash into a bank transfer. I really think hashing the work causes more problems than it solves.

I'm curious what you think about his statement was wrong. Don't dumb it down, I'm an electrical engineer too :) Deaths do happen at low voltage. They aren't very common, but they are possible, and faulty test equipment

I don't see a problem with this. Fluke is a respected brand with a unique appearance. These multimeters really do look like Fluke ripoffs.

To be honest, I don't know much about how this works in NYC government. I think DCAS is the agency that manages all of the city properties. So individual agencies might not have much control over their own space. DCAS might need to b

Financial incentives could be set up between agencies. Say for example DOT has extra office space in one building and they can rent it out to DSNY for cheap. Then DOT gets money they wouldn't otherwise, and DSNY can pay less than the

That's a tricky problem to solve. I work with the NYC government on some projects, and they actually do seem to keep pretty decent track of all of the city's properties (at least, my experience with this is with the tax and finan

Of course. But I can say with confidence that loading JavaScript libraries from a CDN will drop your pagespeed score.

And to throw another cargo-culty idea into the mix: If you load resources from multiple domains it will lower your Google pagespeed (and YSlow) score. Which can negatively affect your pagerank. So they say. Another point for the "c

I can't speak to the legality of the building codes where you live, but I don't see any technical reason why you couldn't have an outlet installed near the street to charge a car. It's pretty common for electricians to

Save all correspondence. Wait until they are about to do a billion dollar exit, then get a lawyer and threaten to tank their deal. Settle with them for FU money.

No I don't think it's necessary. I think changing 200 ft of road across from where I live to "closed" while construction happens for the next year is a minor enough edit that it should be accepted no questions asked. I

I tried to edit Google Maps once and had someone ask me for supporting documentation to prove that the road across the street from where I live really was closed. Total nonsense. This heavy-handed moderation was what pushed me to Openstree

Good question! AC voltage is relatively safer because it crosses the zero point 120 times a second. If it passes through your body, your muscles will spasm but you will have an opportunity to pull away. Also, AC voltage will probably not

Doing any kind of utility work in NYC is a nightmare. There's lots of stuff underground (power, telecom, water, steam, sewer) that has been built up over the years and is in various states of obsolescence and disrepair, and in many ca
