Does she know what instant messaging is? What you listed are not the protocols themselves. The trick is just to make XMPP the standard way to do IM.

There is also GNU social; which is what Mastodon is based off of. I have been thinking about hosting a server for awhile. Pretty cool stuff.

Should check on password-store. Uses gpg encryption and git for syncing. Can't recommend it enough!

Thanks for posting this! It was a great read. I have always been interested in low level graphics programming.

I am surprised that this is news. Google has done US government work for a long time. After 9/11 the newly formed homeland security wanted pictures and accurate data in regards to residential addresses in the US. At first they went to

A VPN has nothing to do with privacy. Changing the definition doesn't do anyone any favors. It just blurs the line even further. Private!== privacy. It isn't some magical protocol that all of a sudden makes you untrackable.

The thing that scares me about self driving cars is that you won't be able to own one. You will have to buy a "plan"/"subscription" or some such nonsense. Then under the guise of safety they will out-law manual

Not even close. For instance check out password-store. It's a cli that uses gpg to store passwords. You can install an open source browser extension, but it only allows you to login easily and is manually triggered. It only connects to

Gunpowder isn't some super secret formula. Anyone with basic chemistry knowledge can make it. I remember kids making it in high school chemistry class to make a black powder rocket.

I agree the whole thing is just plain silly. I don't need a CoC to be a decent human being. I am an adult and don't need a code of conduct on how to behave.
