Yeah passing through usb devices to a VM for audio seems to be a dark art like working with a bunch of analog equipment. Everything has to be tuned. I do understand why a bare metal windows and/or mac computer is always in a studio, on

Yes Ableton, VST and usb. I have used the Coreweave windows VM with Nvidia to run everything audio and video, though haven't routed USB devices to it. Cognitively it's easier to just buy a second PC for windows. But threadripper p

I have Windows only audio and 3d software. I ended up with a windows VM with GPU passthrough on Linux. It sits on its own m2 drive for the rare occasion I need to dual boot. So Windows has been become legacy software for me. (IClone and CC)

We do have a trojan horse with social security. Overnight we can become the largest single owner of global corporate stocks and bonds.

Yes to this keep core base load in your own bare metal systems, use the clouds for what they do best.

My daily driver is Rocky 10, but my control plane is a Pixel 6 on the ATT network but I control almost nothing on that layer. It is why I have been moving most of my core workloads off SaaS and back to local.

Thanks CJ, I live with that chart, but forget maybe most don't. And to add 4 to level 2-0 can also be an attack vector, but seeing straight 5 to 1-0 happens more then people want to admit even with the "firewalls"

As a company that supports OT systems we hate seeing level 5 in the Purdue model with direct write access to level 1 and 0.

Yes true, but lag to industry is closer to ten years. We definitely don't move fast. Example Oil and Gas is just touching LLMs. We took 15 years+ to move to the cloud which once everything was there we moved stuff back to the edge. The

There maybe a lag we are talking 12-24 month projects on our end. But right AI spending is driving everything we will see how long application shows up.

We use AI to help manufacturers run their OT system more effectively. We don't see employment rising in this sector but do see output increases.

Classic hacker news Gnosticism making fun of a designer. The idea the iphone software ecosystem had anything to do with its success is humorous. Remember it didn't even have an app store or anyway to run local yet it was a best seller.

I find it much easier to remesh and deal with textures with a crappy 3d reconstruction vs working with 2d images only. I also shoot HDRI and photos for PBR. I find sculpting tools super useful for VR, but yeah its still an Art even with all

For someone who played outside growing up, ray tracing is a nice addition, the baked lighting always drove me crazy in my games. I put it up there when I noticed Physics engines stopped feeling like I was floating through a game.
