I’m missing the execution plans of these DELETE statements. Without them it‘s not clear what‘s the problem. But in any case sacrificing referential integrity for speed is a bad idea. You could go NoSQL in that case anyway.

People think of it as money but mostly as unusable money. Even Bitcoin proponents now longer propose "using Bitcoin" but "holding Bitcoin" and cashing out to fiat if they have to use money.

An obvious area for improvement would be semantic version control. If the VCS would have an understanding of not only what has changed but also how this affects the code, it could deduce a lot if interesting facts about commit blocks. Like

As I have overloaded my rg with a customized rg alias, I can't pipe multiple rg calls. Otherwise it would look like this: # rg nokogiri | rg linux <stdin>:11:Gemfile.lock:647: nokogiri (1.15.5-x86_64-linux) But

Interesting info. Thanks. In my particular case it doesn't help that I only have limited control over the query and the query designer has a bias towards large, complicated db functions.

Functions are hard barriers for optimization and I don't see that changing any time soon. Which goes even so far that EXPLAIN doesn't work on them and you just get a black box of "Function call to ..." in the execution p

I doubt that giraffes are metric. But maybe they are some obscure SI unit? Fun fact. 1 billion km is almost 1.1 light hours. 1 billion miles is almost 1.5 light hours with less error margin. So you can easily calculate that Voyager 2 is abo

No that’s not a modern convention. You could argue that any higher order bit beyond the 7th bit is undefined by the specification but the order if the bits is clearly defined. Anything with a defined 8th bit would be an extension of ASCII.
