What interesting opinions. Rust not being a candidate for designing a future language? But C++ being a candidate for designing a future language? Go having remarkably poor design? Ruby dying, but Python and Perl not? I would really like to

It's the other way around. Just because somebody is good in one area that doesn't mean they have any authority in another, unrelated one. Putting people on a podest and excusing untolerable behavior is plain toxic. It is not wanti

Yes, there's not much that can destroy a legend easier than meeting them in person. But it in this case, the legend was a rather nice person. Getting this aspect of his personality destroyed would be a shame.

If you look at Szabo's twitter feed these days, I surely hope he isn't. Luckily, there is not that much that points towards him being Satoshi: https://archive.is/N3rYx https://davidgerard.co.uk/blo

Yes, many repositories use something else than "master" as their main development branch. But how many of those don't have a "master" branch at all?

For all the possible reasons to hate this job, adding a RSS feed to anything is very low on my personal list. I'd even say I enjoy adding a RSS feed to anything. There are not enough RSS feeds out there.

I would have preferred "default" as Mercurial does it. "main" suggests it is the main branch under development whereas "default" doesn't as clearly. But both terms are better than "master" if we

You are technically correct. In reality though you can't expect programmers to code for eventualities that occur only in extremely rare cases (until now).

I don‘t mind renaming the default branch. But I’ll see many tools breaking or bugs surfacing because they can’t find the master branch. One repository I used didn’t have a “master” branch but a “Master” branch. That was annoying. Git doesn’

Not confusing to a native speaker :-) But yes, that's exactly how you would say it in German. There might be some part of the brain reserved to parse that sentence as "I'm (one) (four and 80)" but this doesn't feel

Are you sure? Intuitively I would have said, that "I'm one eighty tall" is an abbreviation for "I'm one [meter] [and] 80 [centimeter] tall". Thinking about it, if I measure something with a folding ruler, I wou

There can always be things that trip the compiler. Without looking at the actual assembler, you never know that. Interestingly in your example, clang is able to resolve the first and the third line to the same assembler code. https:/&
