A condescending answer that totally ignores everything else that is in the comment you are replying to. You have with no word said why one would want a predictable supply curve. Ethereum's supply curve is lower than it was promised in

That's not how lawyers think. Microsoft's programmers were (are?) not allowed to read GPL code to rule out any doubt that they might be copy GPL code into the codebase, even if only unconsciously. Lawyers are not just for suing th

If I write a poem by variable names, don’t you think that would fall under copyright? The hurdle for getting copyright are pretty low (of course that also means any compensation by a court would be low). Anything that is not technical ly re

The definition of a premine isn't as clear as you put it. Or at least isn't always used in the same way. With your definition, Ethereum only had a 16% premine.

The really bad thing about C's memory unsafety is that crashing is pretty random. Unless you use a plethora of tooling that patches over these shortcomings, wrong C code doesn't crash reliably (and even then it's not finding

You read that wrong. Rust eliminates a complete class of bugs. Memory safety bugs just don't exist. Logic bugs are another class of bugs. Formal methods can help you with those though.

Does your opinion only apply to unit testing or to automatic testing in general? I can't imagine the kind of software that wouldn't benefit from automatic testing (unless you would be writing the simplest of CRUD web apps or doing

You aren't paid either to write unit tests in the private industry. You are paid to write working code.

How much help your unit tests if your customer pivots from their original idea? Is that a reason not to write unit tests in the first place?

It's not easy to quantify but you can't just dismiss formal methods because we don't know how much development and maintenance overhead they would eliminate. How much revenue something generates is a poor metric. Otherwise, w

The financial crisis of 2008 showed us that you can say the same about the traditional finance system. Crypto is reinventing the same system as traditional finance and hitting all the same problems that we encountered in the last 100 years.
