I'm curious what you and others think - would working in a software development organization in a non-developer capacity (management, QA, documentation, etc) have an effect on your stress levels?

As a user, how do I know that the summary I'm reading is an accurate reflection of the article? Do you have any plans to validate the tl;dr entries? Have you thought about a rating system to allow users to rate the tl;dr entries?

Could be. I don't know much about the internal development practices at Apple. One has to assume they have strict development and testing guidelines, but you're right - it is possible that some programmer hammered this in, and the change sl

So have you already started, and you're thinking of asking for additional equity, a title change, or something similar? Or are you still negotiating before starting?

But none of this means all possible applications have now been invented and more performance is useless. Who is saying that increasing performance by coming up with more efficient software is useless?

Right. I should have been more clear in my statement. I meant that, since Apple clearly doesn't control the domain, I find it hard to believe that they would use it intentionally.

I don't think everyone has forgotten that. Many people just question whether it was a good decision for Apple to try to compete directly with a mature Google Maps using such a new offering.

Surely Apple wouldn't use a domain they don't control for this.

Maybe a better solution would be to progressively add more columns as the screen resolution allows, keeping each column at a fixed width. Doing this would be more challenging, though, than just using a single fixed width column that support

Well said. Responsive design has been around for a while, and I've seen it used well. But not every site has a need to support every combination of big/small/fast/slow devices.

Arbitraty limitations imposed on GUI, such as opening things in modal windows. I'd like to see some additional examples of this arbitrary limitation in the GUI. It seems to me that many design choices can be classified as limitations. If

Thanks! Yeah, ECMAScript Harmony's module proposal uses new syntax, which basically means most developers won't be able to use it for a while. Also, I'm not sure if Harmony supports loading/using multiple modules defined in a single file.

Well, there isn't actually any module loading. The define function lets you define new modules with dependencies. The require function returns a reference to a module or throws an exception if it hasn't been loaded. The idea is that you get

I think a high level abstraction with semantic meaning is important. If you want to include the layout styles in that abstraction, that's one thing. But if you want a simplified way to set the layout without building the grid system yoursel

I see your point to some extent. I don't think the functions for mimicking classes provided by libraries like Prototype and Dojo have particularly crummy syntax. But since there isn't a standardized way to create classes, implementations ar
