Mozilla can't afford to throw its money away on projects like this if it wants to stay relevant. This is two/three engineers salary for a year.

Ballmer didn't turn Windows into spysare the way Nadella has. Windows 10 is basically a rootkit that phones home about your every activity.

I have never seen any good .NET code in the wild. A typical story IMO is to come into a workplace where they are trying to dump legacy .NET systems as soon as possible because they are incredibly brittle. .NET seems to be one of the biggest

A solution might be to change the hiring process to test FP concepts instead of OO, or to use a lisp- so users do not need to learn a complex type system in addition to FP.

Fabs are all about margins, Intel has probably invested more in EUV than any other company at this point. Intel practically saved EUV at ASML by investing in ASML.

Semiconductor fab timelines are notoriously overoptimistic. It is undeniable that Intel's fab has been struggling for a few years, but you can't take a Fab at it's word on when it will begin production. More critical is when

This is a very interesting case where the author claims the book is not free, provides it on a public webpage, and does not want to provide a PDF or ePub. I would gladly be willing to pay for content, but I like to do most of my reading on

Upgrading the Linux kernel opens a huge can of worms. Driver regressions happen all the time. The only things I think are worth backporting in an enterprise kernel are hardware enablement changes and security fixes. If a customer wants to u

I have never heard of anyone wishing bad luck or malice to other developers. If this tale is true, I don't think the greybeards deserve much respect based on their conduct. You simply cannot disparage others.

The reason we don't have mass high rise construction everywhere in high cost of living cities is due to goverment regulations. In Seattle you cannot build above four stories for much of the city. San Francisco has similarly restrictive

What concerns you over the JVM versus say, GCC? Both are GPL licensed. Oracle has committed to openJDK being the reference implementation.

In North America bees are mostly an agricultural tool. Honeybees are the only reliable way to polinate large numbers of crops effectively. Bees will be trucked around all over the country for an entire growing season - always heading where

I don't mean to be disrespectful. The first time I heard of Matrix/Riot was at OSCOn 2015. What has happened since then, and why has it taken so long to stabilize?

I have yet to see any of these problems in core.async (Clojure's version of goroutines). core.async has enabled fantastic programming abstractions like async pipelines using transducers and "socket select" type programming. P

I would highly advise newcomers to CLJS to use lein cljsbuild, reagent, and the figwheel template. It is by far the most popular tooling for CLJS - although recently shadow-cljs folks have been quite loud.
