This has been done so many times at this point, shouldn't MBAs have case studies covering the "how companies have rotted from shit decisions made by bean counters" 101 course?

While I agree tree-sitter is an amazing tool, writing the grammar out can be incredibly difficult I found. I tried writing out a grammar and highlighting query set for vhdl with tree-sitter, and found that there were a lot of difficulties i

Hmm? Cross compiling to docker images is exactly what I used nix for. I even had musl being used, it was the smallest image I could build with any tool and built the images quickly and consistently in ci with caching working well. I never s

Safety as in undefined behavior isn’t in a subset of the language or safety as in memory safety? Because Rust tries to do more than memory safety and it’s quite amazing. Integer overflow isn’t an unheard of problem. The 787 had an integer o

I'm not sure how you can say they aren't alternatives, they directly market themselves as alternatives. The first graphic on the capnproto site compares it to protobufs and was itself created by one of the original protobuf author

I have to say after looking at various DMA hardware I much much prefer the scatter gather list type than the ring type of DMA. The entire need of a bipbuffer allocation for DMA then goes way. You can have a simple pool of fixed sized blocks

I heard for nearly two decades how type safety, const correctness, etc proved to create better programs in C++ than C. Now Rust could be viewed as the next iteration of that and it seems like many C++ developers like to try and paint this p
