"Notmuch is an answer to Sup. Sup is a very good email program written by William Morgan (and others) and is the direct inspiration for Notmuch. Notmuch began as an effort to rewrite performance-critical pieces of Sup in C rather than ruby.

As a programmer it's easier to insert a bug with floats than with integers, because IEEE 754 has various subtle stumbling blocks. For example, remember to think about NaN and that x != x, if x is NaN. And did you know, that there are actual

Actually, it is only 8 decimals: http://www.bitcoin.org/de/node/1#How_divisible_are_Bitcoins "Technically, a Bitcoin can be divided down to 8 decimals, so 0.00000001 BTC is the smallest possible amount." So instead of talking about "0.001

Disagree. The underlying problem is consensus [0], which can usually be solved. For example, read about bitcoin, which got some attention here recently. It provides global money transactions within a distributed system. [0] http://en.wiki

That's why a government can help here. For example, Germany bets on solar energy. You can see solar panels on many houses there, because the government subsidizes them, until it breaks even (in 2013, said above). So at this point the infras

There are a lot of these ancient tools around. For example, you probably have "rcs", which is a precursor of cvs. Rumors are, there are tools (wikis), which use it.

I think the deeper problem is not that stuff like arithmetic is done by function calls, but that it is done by method calls. This requires points-to-analysis and a lowering to function calls first. Since this analysis will be very conservat

Unix is a "DE", without the "I". This is a good thing. The "I" would mean that the parts would not be reusable in other contexts. While you can use "sed" for many things, you cannot do that with Eclipse's search-and-replace dialog.

Judging from the word usage of my not-so-techie friends, an "app" is a "program on a smartphone". A "program on the desktop/laptop" is just a "program", not an "app". When someone says "i have an app, which does X", she surely is talking ab
