I lose things extremely rarely so much so that I distinctly remember the only two things I've lost in the last 5 years or more. My rule is simple: put the item back to its designated place the moment you are done with it. One of those

It is my policy these days to investigate how easy it is to cancel/delete a service or subscription before I register for it, which is incidentally why I will never ever be a Comcast customer.

Until recently I would get spam text messages from my own cell phone number. Telecommunication companies are complicit in all of this for allowing phone number spoofing. As long as they make money I guess it's OK for them.

... and another beauty of a math book written in LaTeX is that you can fit a 286-page book into just 1.3 MB. Good luck doing that in MS Word.

Without the societal/technological contributions of the so-called introverts, the extroverts would still be writing paper letters instead of being able to bully each other from the convenience of their mobile phones. These borderline n

What makes Raspberry Pis competitive is not necessarily hardware; it is software. I guarantee this is not going to be a serious competitor to Raspberry Pi, at least not for the intended audience of Raspberry Pis.

As a PSA for anybody who wants a very readable introduction to "real" math, check out Jay Cummings' two books: Proofs and Real Analysis at https://longformmath.com/ Each paperback book costs less than $20 on

Not the OP. I find the clasic Time Series Analysis book of Box & Jenkins to be a good starting point for "basic" time series forecasting. And even that book is a difficult read: pleasant book but the theory and concepts are st

But, in a way, OO modeling and design was invented to solve the mess that "banging out" procedural code created in the first place. You have to model your business domain in software one way or another anyway. Why should it be bad

Sure, you can certainly do research outside of academia. But, for all practical purposes, you cannot publish at a reputable journal without an academic or R&D center affiliation. However, what you call "nitty gritty of writing essa

I looked at some tutorials and videos, but I can't seem to be able to create a smooth stream no matter what I try: different frame rates, different resolutions, etc. RTSP streaming works reliably for me, but the stream is always choppy

Regardless of what anybody says to the contrary, story points are and have always been used as an obfuscated measure of time. When we can never estimate plan timelines correctly in the first place, why would anybody think that we should be

With my limited knowledge of network technologies, I still found it relatively easy to setup a Pi Zero + Raspberry Pi Camera Module system to stream video over RTSP to VLC software on my desktop or phone. The stream quality is pretty crappy

When I read the badly-written documentation (manuals, datasheets, etc.) of a lot of Chinese products like calipers, stepper motors, and ICs, I often say to myself that I could fix the language easily for a small fee and make their products

Yes, I would say it is still fairly easy to enter the software development field. It is worth remembering that software development is a very broad field ranging from changing size and color of buttons on a webpage (which is perfectly fine)
