Very cool writeup! Unfortunately, the bar graphs at the bottom of the article have different y-axis scaling, but even so: It's sad how Firefox' performance pales in comparison to Chrome.

I don't agree at all with the author; imho it's all the about the app! The user doesn't want to have to choose from a rich portfolio of (desktop!) clients; they want a mobile client that can do everything that Whatsapp/T

This looks nice, bookmarked! Maybe expose some simple quality setting to the user? As far as I can tell after glancing at the code, the only optimization that's done is re-encoding the image with quality set to 75, so a quality slider
